L’ultima tappa del mio viaggio on the road tra le dolomiti, un posto magico, una valle incantata e uno specchio d’acqua ad un passo dal cielo. Oggi ti racconto tutto sul lago di braies inverno.

Ricordi il mio viaggio on the road tra le Dolomiti? Sui social e sulla mia pagina Facebook ho ricevuto tantissime richieste e domande. Chi mi chiedeva quali fossero i migliori mercatini di Natale in zona, chi quali fossero i piatti tipici e, la domanda più diffusa, quale fosse l’ultima tappa del mio tour.

Beh oggi rispondo a questa ultima domanda, lo faccio con gli occhi a cuoricino, il cuore che batte a mille colmo di emozioni e con una carrellata di immagini del lago di braies inverno, l’ultima tappa del mio viaggio.

Lago di braies inverno: a un passo dal cielo

Dopo aver visitato l’Alta Badia e la Val Pusteria siamo partiti alla volta della Val di braies, un piccolo angolo di paradiso che era in cima alla mia lista dei luoghi da vedere da un sacco di tempo.

La Val di Braies è la valle adiacente alla Val Pusteria e da Terento (dove ho alloggiato presso Falkensteiner Sonnenparadies) dista circa un’ora d’auto.

Una volta giunti a destinazione lasciamo l’auto nel parcheggio adiacente al lago e di fronte a me la meraviglia delle meraviglie. Il lago è completamente ghiacciato e la temperatura esterna è di 12° sotto zero (si trattava tuttavia di una giornata “calda” per i locali). Sembra di essere sulla luna: le rocce dolomitiche, il freddo ghiaccio e il costante rimbombo delle crepe nel ghiaccio dovute al sorgere del sole (qui il sole sorge alle 12.00 e tramonta alle 12.40, per il resto della giornata in inverno il cielo è lievemente illuminato).

Prima di lasciarti alle foto del lago di braies inverno lascia che ti racconti la leggenda sulla formazione di questo lago che mi ha davvero incuriosito:

La leggenda vuole che la vallata di Braies fosse abitata da alcuni selvaggi di brutto aspetto che custodivano l’oro presente nelle vicine montagne. Per queste figure l’oro era prezioso per il suo splendore ma li rendeva duri nell’animo. Quando apparvero nella valle alcuni allevatori assieme al loro bestiame, le figure selvagge regalarono loro alcuni oggetti prodotti con il loro oro. Gli allevatori vedendo tale abbondanza d’oro divennero avidi ed iniziarono ad impadronirsi della materia prima, rubandola alla popolazione dei selvaggi. La popolazione dei selvaggi decise di impedire agli allevatori di raggiungere le montagne e fecero sgorgare alcune sorgenti d’acqua, che crearono a valle il lago di Braies, che impediva agli allevatori di poter rubare ulteriormente l’oro ai selvaggi.

The last stage of my journey on the road between the Dolomites, a magical place, an enchanted valley and a circle of water one step from heaven. Today I’ll tell you all about the lake braies in winter.

Remember my journey on the road between the Dolomites? On social and on my Facebook page I have received many requests and questions. Who ask me about the best Christmas markets in the area, who about the typical dishes and the most common question: what was the last stop of my tour.

Well today I answer to this last question, I do it with my eyes a little heart, the heart beating and a thousand of emotions and a series of images of Lake braies in winter, the last stop of my journey.

Lake braies  in winter: a step away from heaven

After visiting the Alta Badia and Val Pusteria we left for the Val di braies, a small corner of paradise that was high on my list of places to see a lot of time.

The Braies Valley is the valley adjacent to the Pustertal and from Terento (where I stayed in Falkensteiner Sonnenparadies) is about an hour’s drive.

Once you reach your destination leave the car in the parking adjacent to the lake and in front of me the wonder of wonders. The lake is completely frozen and the outside temperature is 12 degrees below zero (however was a “hot” day for the locals). It’s like being on the moon: the dolomite rocks, ice cold and the constant rumble of the cracks in the ice due to the rising of the sun (here the sun rises at 12:00 and sets at 12:40, for the rest of the day in winter the sky is slightly illuminated ).

Before I leave you to the photos of Lake braies in winter let me tell you the legend on the formation of this lake that really intrigued me:

Legend has it that the Braies valley was inhabited by some wild look bad that guarded the gold present in the nearby mountains. To these figures gold was valued for its splendor but made them hard in the soul. When it appeared in the valley some breeders together with their livestock, wild figures presented them with some products items with their gold. Breeders seeing such an abundance of gold became greedy and started to take possession of raw materials, stealing the people of savages. The population of wild decided to prevent farmers to reach the mountains, and did pour some water sources, which created downstream Lake Braies, that prevented farmers to further steal the gold to the wild.
